Archery:
Not only an Olympic sport but an important part of history, participants will hear about how the bow and arrow came to be. Keeping safety in the forefront, we will learn to string, hold, load, and fire a bow and arrow. A variety of friendly competitions and prizes await along with an unlikely assortment of stuffed targets.

Canoeing:
Think canoes are tippy? Think again! Participants will experience firsthand the challenge of paddling in a canoe. With qualified instructors, super fast canoes, and a whole lake, this session is guaranteed to delight supervisors and participant. There may be an option to use our 13 person canoe as an alternative depending on ability and weather. Canoeing is available May to October, depending on weather and lake conditions.

Nature Awareness and Observation:
This is an exciting adventure into the natural world. Experience nature on a new level! Learn techniques for seeing more animals, getting closer to animals, and appreciating nature on all levels. Visit birds nests, feed chickadees from your hand, come eye to eye with a toad! Learn how to be "invisible" in the woods! You will need a set of cloths that can get dirty for this session. Fun for all age groups!

Challenge Course:
By using some imagination, ingenuity, and hard work participants will have to work together to complete challenges at multiple stations along our course.

Low Ropes Course:
A great way for participants to challenge themselves mentally and physically. With and emphasis on spotting and safety, we offer elements that create a sense of accomplishment when completed. We are currently updating some elements and creating new ones, and as the course grows so does our excitement!

Challenge Wall:
Part of our Challenge Course, this is a 12 foot high challenge for senior high school participants. The objective is to safely get each member of the group up an over the completely flat wall. A great way to emphasize cooperation and hard work.

The Beam:
Part of our Challenge Course, this is an 8 foot high log which challenges junior high school participants. The objective is to safely get each member of the group up and over the beam. Equally challenging is the strategy and teamwork needed to succeed.

Initiative Tasks:
This session is geared towards junior and senior high school participants. Activities focus on working together while promoting trust, unity, and pride. Overcoming obstacles and developing communication skills are key components.

The Survival Game:
This is an intense game of strategy, speed, and luck. Participants attempt to evade predators as they compete for resources against opposing teams and win a prize at the end. The game is usually played on our Island, which is well suited with many paths and trails to explore. The game is often the highlight of the retreat! The debriefing session after the game can contain either a social justice, natural systems, or spiritually themed message to support the retreat's themes or goals.

Outdoor Survival Skills:
Learn how to build fire and shelters, locate clean drinking water, how to identify edible plants, and what or what not to do in a survival situation. Get prepared, learn primitive and survival skills, and have fun with this entertaining and practical session.
