Hey friends! Long time no see. My name is Nova and I am thrilled to be returning to camp for my 13th year. I began attending camp as a wee camper and I have stuck around ever since; I counselled for many years and had the privilege of being one of the Adventure Programmers in the summers of 2014 and 2015. This year, I can’t wait to serve you in a new role as Assistant Program Director! I recently graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from the University of Alberta and am excited to bring my love for music and singing to all of you. In addition to singing, I love to dance, play ukulele, go on adventures, travel, and be silly! I can’t wait to share all the fun, friendship, and love that Camp has to offer, and to encounter God’s profound love with you each and every day. See you soon!

Hello! My name is Sunshine and I am so excited to be serving Camp Encounter as the Program Director. Ever since my first week out at camp I have been completely in love with it. Camp has changed my life for the better, and has brought me closer to God. I worked at Camp Encounter as a program staff in the summers from 2012-2015, and in 2016 I flew off to Cambodia and hung out with some great kids there! I graduated in 2017 from the University of Alberta with a degree in Elementary Education, so maybe one day Miss. Sunshine will be your teacher. I love to sing, and you may sometimes spot me with a little bird on my shoulder named Skittle, who will probably make kissy noises at you! I am beyond excited to hang out with all of you at camp, and to have a fun time adventuring, crafting, singing, and ultimately experiencing God’s love first hand. It’s going to be a great year and I can’t WAIT to meet all of you, or to see you again!

Look who swooped in for Round 2…it’s me, Falcon! I also go by Falco, Falcon Punch, and Captain Falcon, but if you have a better idea, I’m all ears! A little story about me: once upon a time, I went to camp as a wee little baby Falcon 7 years ago and fell in love right away! (fact: I cried because I didn’t want to leave; another fact: I still cry). I loved my first week at camp so much I kept coming back! I was a camper until I counselled for two years and then I was blessed with the opportunity to work at camp last summer! Now I’m back for my second year as one half of the Spirits team and I couldn’t be more excited to work with another winged friend! I can’t wait to hang out and talk about the best kind of love: that’s the love God has for you and me! Camp is a place like no other where you can encounter God in so many ways and I’m excited to talk about just how great He is! Camp had such a positive influence on my life it inspired me to pursue a career in education! I am done my first year in the Bachelor of Secondary Education program at the U of A! Fun fact: I am a triplet and no we don’t look the same and no we don’t read each other’s minds.
(but that would be pretty cool, eh?)

Hi there, I’m Peaches and I have been blessed to work yet another summer at this amazing place I can call home! I have been going to Camp Encounter for seven years now and I have most recently worked as a program staff last summer. I am currently a student at MacEwan University in the Business Management program which I am highly enjoying. Other than studying I enjoy baking and finding new socks to add to my collection. (the current tally of socks are 113 pairs and counting) I am super stoked to spend my summer getting crafty with all the lovely people that come out to camp as well as playing games in the beautiful sunlight! Love and Peaches!

Howdy folks! My name is Argo and I will be programming this spring as well as co-running the adventure program this summer. I’m super excited, especially seeing as all my favourite movies include characters who do adventurey things. Hopefully we’ll be able to make some of those adventures come to life! I will be starting my second year this coming September at the U of A in the secondary education program. To end this intro, I will provide a few facts that are either about me or about tigers: I can easily jump over five metres horizontally, I have a poodle named Sally, I usually hunt alone at nighttime. I bet you can’t tell which are which.
Hey everybody!! My name is Bronco and I’ll be running Rec this summer as my first time as a camp staff. I have a deep connection to games, and in fact come from a long line of game-board games (and cowboys, obvs) who have excelled in the pursuit of the recreational arts. I have been training for this summer, every morning at the crack of dawn, for months now. My family has gotten tired of the endless sounds of Gaga balls bouncing off the walls, and my neighbours are threatening to call the police over the amount of soccer balls I’ve kicked over the fence. I’ll be ready to play every and any game this summer! (except golf) This fall I will be going to the U of A Faculty of Arts and after that I would like to go into history and law. But before all that, I cannot wait to spend this summer with you guys! I’ve been going to camp for 6 years now so I’ll know some of you for sure but am very excited to meet more of you and get to know you all!! See you then!
Hey guys, Sparrow here, back for another round of rowdie island adventuring! My good friend Stump and I will be planning wicked games and campfires for your overnight trip to Catfish Island this summer. I'll also be hanging out at Camp for the spring with all you awesome school groups, doing what I can to make your couple days away from school the best possible. When I'm not climbing trees at camp and discovering new spots on the island, I find myself climbing rock walls and discovering new spots at the U of A. I ended up in a couple classes there this January and I'll be starting a Secondary Education Degree there in September.
Quack! Everybody’s favourite duck is back for another psychedelic summer at Camp Encounter. If he’s not your favourite duck that’s okay he’s not mine either. My name is Mallard and summer 2K17 will be my 7th (dang I’m getting old) one at Camp, second as a staff member. This past year I’ve been spending my first year outside of the high school life at the University of Saskatchewan doing homework, homework, and more homework in their engineering program. I absolutely love it and when I get some spare time in the day I get to do even more homework! This summer I will be of the birds leading you in Camp spirits! We’ll have a blast learning about God and loving creation. I’m beyond stoked to grow myself in all of you smart people’s wisdom and I hope I can share some of mine with ya’ll. Together we’ll keep the world a rockin’ and a rollin’ with smile after smile after smile. If you wish to have a little bit of wisdom now I hope I can satisfy you;
“Before you criticize someone talk a mile in their shoes, that way when you criticizes them you’re a mile away and you have their shoes.” Quack!
Hi my name is Maple and I'm extremely excited to be heading back for a second summer at camp. I've experienced camp the past 10 years through many lenses, as camper, counsellor and now a staff! I'm currently completing my second year of my Bachelor of Science in Nursing at MacEwan and hope to one day work in labour and delivery or pediatrics. I have an inner older lady and love anything vintage or SUPER eccentric clothing! I'm excited to spend the summer out in the sunshine again with KIDS! (They just say the darnedest things don't they) My favourite quote is "Let all that you do be done in love." It is something I try to take into my every day and into my nursing care. We must serve others with the utmost love. Bring on SUMMER 2017!
Hello, my name is Jellyfish! I came to camp two years ago, counselled for both years and loved every minute of it. This summer I will be running the Adventure program. Rockwall, canoeing, archery and challenge course will be a blast! I am currently in my first year at NAIT taking Chemical Technology while figure skating in my free time. Last year I went to Synchronized Figure Skating Nationals in Waterloo with my team to represent Alberta and had a blast meeting people from all over Canada and cheering on for the best performances from everyone. I am so excited to see everyone come out to camp again this year and for all the new faces to experience how wonderful camp is. Hope to see you out this summer!

Hi everyone! I'm _____ and I'm so excited to be a staff member at Camp Encounter this year. I've been going to camp for as long as I remember and it has become such a huge part of my life. I'm just finishing up my last year at Strathcona High School, and I'm excited to study Nutrition and Food Sciences next fall at the University of Alberta. When I'm not doing homework for school, I play hockey, do track, and play guitar in my spare time. It's surreal that I have this opportunity to staff at Camp because I've looked up to and been inspired by the staff members ever since I attended camp for my first time as a little camper. I believe that everything happens for a reason, so that I can see the good in every situation that I encounter. I can't wait to spend my summer at my favorite place in the world!
Stump: “Yup… more time.”
Boss: “You sure?"
Stump: “Positive!”BAM!!! Guess who is back for his third year of summer programming at Camp Encounter? It’s your friend who looks like he should be surfing on some waves off the coast of Hawaii - Stump! Last year, I had the privilege of running the Spirits Program, however, this year there has been a change on the frontline and I am up to the challenge. My mission: head back to the Island and conquer the Out-Trip Program with my great friend Sparrow! I was Out-Trip/Dorms in my first summer as staff in 2014 and I am beyond excited to show what our Island has to offer…but you will have to come out to Camp to check it out! Ha, ha… did you really think I was going to tell you? Nope!
Since last summer I have been attending The King’s University taking a B.A. in English while playing my third year of post-secondary volleyball for the university’s Eagles Men’s Volleyball Team. Some of my many hobbies on and off campus are cooking, playing music, reading and hanging out with my amazing family and friends.
So, why is Stump returning for another year? Well, I am being called to live out a life of service. My passion is to be in relationship with people and God has given me an awesome opportunity to mentor youth in an environment where they are loved and accepted. So then, where can I work (more or less play) in a place where I can embrace my call to serve? That is Camp Encounter my friends.
Yes, I still have my man bun and yes… it will be golden just like this summa!! Lets get it started!
